Welcoming 2024: The Road Ahead

Welcoming 2024: The Road Ahead

As we say goodbye to 2023, we find ourselves in that quiet pause before the New Year roars into being. We know 2024 is going to be a very important year for our Alliance, with many ambitious goals ahead. We will continue to build on the deep listening we started two years ago, and our excitement has only ramped up as the topics we unearthed in that deep listening feed and inform real actions and campaigns across the Western Slope.

This week marks your last opportunity in 2023 to support our work ahead!

We enter this year’s legislative season tracking proposed bills that we expect to see introduced which will have significant impacts on Western Colorado residents, with a strong emphasis on agricultural and clean energy issues this year. Our Western Slope Youth Voice interns have begun to expand their operation across Western Colorado, with events planned in Garfield County this coming month to help build young leaders.

We’re seeing our affiliate groups in Mesa, Montrose, and Garfield Counties growing and revitalized by the efforts of Alliance organizers who live in the neighborhoods they serve.  And we continue to work tirelessly to protect Colorado’s air quality, promote local clean energy projects, foster local food systems and regenerative agricultural practices, and ensure housing is available for all.

Such big visions and efforts would not be possible without your help — your volunteer efforts, your donations, and your moral support. First Name, it’s you and people like you who have fueled every victory we’ve seen in over 40 years of organizing. Please take this last chance to contribute in 2023!  With your help, we’re going to forge a bright 2024!

Emily stepped up as our staff director in 2017, but originally joined our team as a community organizer in 2013. Born and raised on the Western Slope, Emily graduated from Colorado State University and then had the privilege of learning from and working alongside organizers in Central and South America as well as Appalachian coal country. They returned to their home state to protect the land they love and work with fellow Coloradans for a healthy, just and self-reliant future for our rural communities. Emily enjoys organizing, exploring the Colorado Plateau, country music and punk concerts with equal passion.
