Building a resilient future for the Western Slope

As you are a friend of Western Colorado Alliance, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for supporting us, and for being a part of our programs.

The success of any program or campaign that you care about is powered by the people who show up, roll up their sleeves, and give it their full heart. Western Colorado is nothing but full of heart, as these quotes from some of our members show.

The success of any program or campaign that you care about is powered by the people who show up, roll up their sleeves, and give it their full heart. Western Colorado is nothing but full of heart, as these quotes from some of our members show.

From farmers regenerating their soil health for future generations, to teachers supporting our region’s next leaders, to small business owners fighting for an economy that works for all of us — each of us contributes back to the communities where we live with our full selves.

From Ouray to Nucla to Rifle, Western Colorado Alliance is celebrating big wins this year for our towns:

  • Connected rural electric coops with $9.7 billion of Inflation Reduction Act monies to accelerate and expand the build-out of local clean energy generation across Western Colorado.
  • Passed the first in the nation legislation that allows local farmers and ranchers the right to repair agricultural equipment apart from the equipment manufacture.
  • Won more precedent-setting rules to further reduce methane emissions from the oil and gas sector, holding operators accountable for the amount of air pollution they produce.
  • Organized support for new oil and gas bonding rules which will save taxpayers $838 million in clean-up costs for abandoned wells over the next decade.
  • West Slope Youth Voice interns won the inclusion of a student health clinic in the construction of the new Grand Junction High School, overturning a previous school board decision and providing mental and physical health care to students.

We could not run these programs, build these teams, and organize with our full selves and values without your generous support of our work. We’re grateful to count you as a member of our team and hope that we can continue to earn your support as we forge toward a more resilient future for everyone who calls the Western Slope home.

Thank you for being here – and I’ll see you in the field in 2024.
