Tell Mesa County Commissioners it’s time to end the solar moratorium!

We are very near the end of the Mesa County Solar Moratorium, a whole two months ahead of schedule! Thanks to your dedication to a renewable energy future in Mesa County, and our unwavering attention throughout the planning commission process, we are on the verge of passing new land development codes in Mesa County for solar projects that will both respect the valid concerns of our community and open up opportunity for cheaper, cleaner energy to power our homes. While things look promising, we are not done yet!

On Tuesday, April 23 at 9 am in the Old County Courthouse, the Mesa County Commissioners will be hearing the last public comments before making a decision to pass the new land use codes for solar installations, and we need you to show up and make sure the codes are approved without additional amendments.

We commend the Commissioners and county staff, especially the planning department and Sean Norris, for their open, transparent, and welcoming process over these last few months. They truly listened to the community to create the best process for everyone involved. Despite the county’s hard work and attention to the community’s interests and concerns, some members of our community are still fighting to add changes to the codes that will make solar all but impossible to implement, which is why we need solar power supporters like you to join us in standing up for a reasoned and well-thought-out approach to solar implementation, which the current recommended code represents.

Please sign up to attend the Public Hearing at this link so we can be sure we have enough voices in the room!

We also would like to invite you to a Western Colorado Alliance Clean Energy Team meeting on Monday, April 22, at 5 pm at the Western Colorado Alliance main office located at 601 N. First Street in Grand Junction, to discuss the current code, get your thoughts, and share messaging information so we can all feel prepared entering the public hearing the morning of Tuesday, April 23. We will also be presenting on some other interesting projects happening in the clean energy space in Mesa County and beyond, so don’t miss out!
