For years, Colorado rural electric co-op customers have been stuck with some of the costliest, dirtiest energy in the West. In 2019, our communities rallied to get that fixed. We won bipartisan Colorado legislation to put energy supplier Tri-State under the review of the Colorado Public Utilities Commission, requiring Tri-State to file an Electric Resource Plan to clean up its mess.

If you get your electricity from a rural electric cooperative supplied by Tri-State, that regulatory plan is now in full swing and you have a chance to help write it — weighing in on clean energy, energy cost burdens, coal plant retirements, and fair deals for coal transition communities with your own public comment.

Tri-State member cooperatives:

  • Gunnison Electric Association
  • San Miguel Power Association
  • La Plata Electric Association
  • Mountain Parks Electric
  • Sangre de Cristo Electric Association
