Western Colorado Alliance joined with the Community Food Bank of Grand Junction and Hunger Free Colorado on September 10 in Clifton for a campaign kickoff event for Healthy School Meals for All (HSMA). This program ensures kids across Western Colorado get continued access to free, nutritious school meals made with quality ingredients from local food producers.
Healthy School Meals for All has been a huge success in its first year, but needs more support to continue. Children shouldn’t have to worry about the cost of food or skip a meal. This November, Colorado voters will have the opportunity to vote YES on Propositions LL and MM so every child in Colorado can continue to get a healthy meal at school.
Background: In 2022, Colorado became a national leader in child nutrition through the passage of Proposition FF: Healthy School Meals for All, with resounding support from voters. HSMA allows schools participating in the National School Lunch and Breakfast programs to offer breakfast and lunch to students at no cost and invests in quality local food, technical assistance to support schools in providing more from-scratch meals, and higher wages for cafeteria workers.
We’ll join with parents, teachers, local farmers, and other organizations to tell you more about 2025 Colorado propositions LL and MM. We aim to make sure every child in Colorado can continue to get a healthy meal at school.
We hope to see you there!
