Local Zoning for Affordable Housing
One of the first steps for any community seeking to create more affordable housing options is to ensure local zoning codes will support it! Our Alliance has worked to pass local zoning initiatives that will help foster more affordable home building in our communities.
State Policy
Affordable housing is a statewide issue and many pieces of legislation and ballot initiatives have been proposed across Colorado. Our Alliance works to ensure Western Coloradans needing affordable housing are represented in these decisions and can bring rural considerations to the table. Our members were critical in the passage of Proposition 123, which created a statewide fund that local governments can use to support more affordable housing in our communities. We are now working with local governments across the West Slope to opt in and put these funds to good use.
Renter and Landlord Education
In the ever changing policy landscape of housing, our Alliance regularly hosts know your rights events for folks needing housing and folks offering housing. Keep an eye on our events page for our next round of workshops and trainings!
