Tri-State Clean Energy Action Tour this October

Tri-State Clean Energy Action Tour this October

For years, Colorado rural electric co-op customers have been stuck with some of the costliest, dirtiest energy in the West. In 2019, our communities rallied to get that fixed. We won bi-partisan Colorado legislation to put energy supplier Tri-State under the review of the Colorado Public Utilities Commission, requiring Tri-State to file a plan with regulators to clean up its mess.

Now, that regulatory plan is in full swing and you have a chance to help write it — weighing in on clean energy, energy cost burdens, coal plant retirements, and fair deals for coal transition communities.

From 10/21 to 10/27, Western Colorado Alliance is partnering with ally organizations across the Slope to offer community events on this historic rulemaking for rural energy.

Each event will feature an update on clean energy progress in Colorado, a rundown of the big issues with our Tri-State energy supply, and options for how you can share your priorities directly with regulators.

All events sans Buena Vista will end with a film screening of Patagonia’s We the Power, a 30 minute film about how locals around the world are taking back control of their energy. At the Ridgway and Telluride online event, documentary director and Telluride local David Garrrett Byars will join us to discuss the making of the film. Folks from any location are welcome to attend the two online events.
