Tell Colorado lawmakers to stand with Colorado immigrant families!

We’re celebrating a significant victory this week, as SB 25-276 (Protect Civil Rights Immigration Status) has passed out of committee in the Colorado Legislature and now heads to the next stage of its legislative journey.

This bill is hugely important at a time like now, when families are being separated and federal attacks on our basic rights are rising. This bill represents a big step forward in the fight to ensure all Coloradans can access essential services, by strengthening our state’s civil rights protections.

SB25-276 would:

  • Close dangerous data-sharing loopholes
  • Ensure constitutional protections for immigrants at public facilities like schools, hospitals, and childcare providers
  • Prohibit local law enforcement from detaining people for ICE without a judicial warrant

Our Alliance supports this bill and our allies at the Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition because immigrants are part of our Western Slope communities, are part of our Alliance, and are our neighbors, co-workers, and friends.  We know that healthy, just, and resilient communities depend on protecting the basic civil liberties of all our neighbors.

Colorado has made real progress in keeping families together and building a state where all of us can live with dignity and safety. But in a time when immigrant families are targeted by raids and abductions, we need this bill to become law. You can do something today: Email your State Senator, Representative, and Governor Polis to urge them to support SB25-276!
