After two years, four drafts, and lots of community input, the Montrose County Commissioners will vote on the final land development code for large-scale solar projects. This could be the meeting that decides whether Montrose opens the door to clean, affordable solar energy—or continues the ban. Date: Wednesday, June 4 Time: 9:30 AM Location: Montrose County Public Works Meeting Room, 63160 LaSalle Road The new code balances community concerns like protecting views and farmland while allowing solar and battery projects that could power our county with sunshine. Why it matters: Montrose has had a ban on new large-scale solar for years. That’s blocked progress while energy needs grow. This code has wide community support—even some early opponents now support it. But approval isn’t guaranteed. Commissioners can: Approve the code Approve it with small changes Deny it Delay the decision again If they deny or delay, the solar ban will continue, wasting time, money, and a big opportunity for tax revenue and energy savings. We need your voice. Please join us on June 4 at 9:30 AM to show support. It’s time Montrose moves forward with clean energy. |
*Delta Montrose Electric Association (DMEA) member-owners, it’s time to VOTE!* Election Day is June 12, but early voting has already begun! If you get your power from DMEA, you have the opportunity to vote for your board representatives who have a massive impact on the energy that is delivered to your home, what your rates are, and where your power comes from. DMEA elections are happening now, and we encourage you to support the incumbent slate of candidates including Jacob Gray, Jock Flemming, and Emily Sanchez. These three candidates have been champions for clean energy, working hard to make sure your rates stay low (DMEA is one of only a handful of cooperatives who haven’t raised rates in years!), and have been instrumental in making DMEA a rural electric cooperative that has gained national praise for its forward-thinking vision and commitment to their member-owners. Election Day is June 12th, culminating at the DMEA Annual Meeting from 4:30 – 8:00 pm at the Hotchkiss K-8 School, 465 Lorah Lane, Hotchkiss. Thousands of members have already cast their votes, don’t miss out! You have several easy options to get your vote in, including: |
