Election Day 2023 in Mesa County

In Mesa County, there is another ballot amendment our Alliance is supporting: Amendment 2B. This amendment will increase maximum city-owned leases from 25 years to 99 years, a small but impactful barrier that currently prevents the city from taking advantage of Proposition 123, which passed last year, to guarantee more units dedicated to affordable housing projects be built in Grand Junction.

While school board elections appear on several local ballots this year, our nonpartisan youth group, West Slope Youth Voice, has been active in getting the know the candidates in Mesa County who will join the District 51 School Board. After hosting a Student Voices School District 51 Board Candidates Forum with all candidates participating, our students compiled a data sheet on the positions of the candidates. (You can watch video from that forum here and here.)
