Those who live in Garfield County, especially those who live near or in the West Mamm Creek area, know what a special area that is. As a vital habitat for diverse wildlife, West Mamm Creek is relied upon by elk, deer, and countless other species for their survival. Now, this unique and beloved community and watershed are under threat. The proposed pipeline development and ensuing natural gas development near West Mamm Creek puts both our environment and our way of life in jeopardy. It’s time to come together and take a stand against this reckless proposal.

Besides the danger this poses to cherished habitats, here are some other reasons this development is a threat:

  • Our watersheds are in danger. Pipelines crossing Beaver and Tepee Creeks pose an immense threat to the purity of our watersheds.
  • Our community has not been adequately consulted. The lack of comprehensive community engagement on this issue is deeply concerning. Adequate notifications and transparency are our rights, not privileges!
  • We have a responsibility to our climate. In the midst of a global climate crisis, we need to curb oil and gas production and protect intact landscapes.
  • We need to put health and safety first! The 2013 Parachute Creek spill of over 1,250 gallons of natural gas liquids and chemicals into surface and drinking water sources is a stark reminder of the danger of natural gas pipelines in watersheds.

Your voice matters! By speaking up against this pipeline, you send a clear message that we will not stand idly by while our environment and community are put at risk.

Here’s how YOU can take action!

  • Write a comment letter. Craft a powerful letter to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in the next couple hours and submit it here. But you must hurry — the deadline for comments to the BLM is midnight tonight!
  • And sign our petition! Add your name to the list of Western Colorado residents who have said we want protections for the unique environment that is West Mamm Creek!
