This spring, WCC and its allies are teaming up to offer a series of guided hikes to showcase public lands throughout Western Colorado!
Join us to learn about our local public lands, ongoing resource planning processes, as well as the many uses and conflicts that arise within each unique area. Hikes will be 3 to 5 miles in length and have moderate difficulty. All hikes are free to the public!
Our first hike is this Saturday, April 19th to the Adobe Badlands Wilderness Study Area, northwest of Delta. Come explore this maze of arroyos and ravines, with ancient marine fossils scattered among pinon-junipers and threatened hookless cactus. Details below!
The hikes are all located within Uncompahgre Field Office BLM management areas open for public comment under an upcoming Resource Management Plan (RMP). This RMP will guide BLM management actions on everything from energy extraction and development to river management and recreation for the next 20 years, so your comments are crucial in determining the future of our public lands.
Come learn about how to engage in this process, understand the resource issues at stake, and see the beauty of these areas!
