Summer wrap up

Earlier this year, we announced that our local members have chosen to run a campaign to improve and expand public transit options in western Garfield County. We were fortunate to have spent the warm months at community events having conversations about transportation needs in our county. Thank you to all the organizers of Bike There! (Silt location), Latino Conservation Week (Glenwood Springs), and the Hispanic Heritage Celebration (Rifle) for inviting us to participate. It was also an honor to present at the Regional Transportation Coordinating Council Summit in Frisco. From community members, to other nonprofits and government bodies, the goal of expanding public transit in western Garfield has been met with a positive reception by everyone we’ve spoken with.

Transportation Campaign update

Our transportation campaign will be community driven and we’re looking for a dedicated campaign team to lead it. The campaign team will work together to strategize, set goals, and ensure what we’re working towards serves the communities they represent. Diverse perspectives are a strength, so we’re seeking folks from all walks of life. Are you a student? Retired? A commuter? A parent? Do you have a disability? A heart language that isn’t English? Our transportation plan needs to serve our whole community and with your voice, it can. Email hanna@westerncoloradoalliance.org if you’re interested in being part of the campaign team or have any questions.

There’s also a way you can help us improve transportation that takes just 5 minutes! Take our Bus Survey and share it with your friends. Our campaign team will use the compiled data to inform their decisions and present to stakeholders that we hope to partner with.

Vote Up!

While some things are better late than never (like this newsletter!), voting is not one of those things. Make a plan to return your ballot by November 5! You can check out our virtual voting guide to learn more about this year’s amendments and propositions. Together, we can make a difference.
