Know your housing rights!

Just Housing (a part of Western Colorado Alliance of Mesa County) strives to bring you the latest information on YOUR housing rights, as well as other information you may not know. This year, we are gearing up to host three Know Your Rights events to keep you up-to-date on new bills, credit programs, loan options, upcoming bills on your ballot, and connections to legal and non-profit organizations.

Join us for the first Know Your Rights event on Saturday, July 27, in the Fruita Community Center Cherry Room, at 2:30 pm, focusing on the For Cause Eviction Bill that just passed. The information is presented by legal advisors that can answer any questions you may have. And we will be teaming up with Housing Resources to make sure all the information you are receiving is from those we trust to give you the answers you need!

Want to know more? Don’t miss out on our next two Know Your Rights events, one of which will be held in Clifton on August 17 at 2:30 pm, and the other in Grand Junction on September 21, at 4:30 pm. (Watch this website or the Western Colorado Alliance of Mesa County Facebook page for exact locations.) Sign up to save your seat now! If you would like to know more please reach out to me, Maria, your Mesa County Community Organizer, or Arlo Miller, chair of the Just Housing group.

About the author

María Luiza Peréz Chavéz (who sometimes goes by Mary) works closely with the Western Colorado Alliance of Mesa County affiliate group. María is fluent in both English and Spanish and sometimes works as a skilled interpreter. But her love for language goes beyond just English and Spanish; currently, she is also studying French and Japanese! One day, she hopes to attend law school as an avenue to help those in need. Even with her busy schedule, María’s priority is her family. As the eldest of seven children, she has always felt the need to support her parents in any way she can. And somehow, she still finds time to read, swim, listen to music, watch movies, draw, play video games, and hang out with friends!
