5K Fun Run: Help kickstart the community center campaign!

For the past three years, our Alliance in Mesa County has been building support for a community center that the people of Grand Junction deserve: a place for everyone, with pools for all ages, hardwood courts, a safe place for kids, activities for seniors, and diverse community spaces for your next event or gathering.

The next step is to get our proposal on the April 2019 ballot, and run a community-driven campaign to make sure that it passes.

We’re excited to officially launch that campaign with a Community Center Kickstart 5k Fun Run on Saturday, September 22, and we hope you can join us!  Register nowAll proceeds from the event will directly benefit the campaign for a community center in Grand Junction.

This family-friendly fun run starts at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 22, at Matchett Park, the proposed site for the community center. The race course follows the perimeter of this 205-acre park so you can envision what it will look like with our beautiful, state of the art community center in a built-out green space.

Bring your little ones out for a free 1k kid dash starting at 9:30. Registration opens at 9:00.

Is running not in your repertoire? No problem! This event is truly for all ages! Whether you walk, run, jog or skip — we’ll all be winners when we have a community center!

Treat yourself to a morning of exercise, activities for kids, and prizes for top runners and best costume! Register now at $20.00 for adults, and free to kids 15 and under! Registration will be available the morning of the event for $30. Get your tickets now to guarantee a stylin’ t-shirt in your size!

We hope to see you there!
