Be a Grassroots Democracy Intern!

Western Colorado Alliance has launched its Youth Voter Initiative! If you – or a student you know – is interested in leading the way to engage our next generation of decision makers and register students to vote, click here to sign up to become a Grassroots Democracy intern. We know the best people to register students are other students!

Our Grassroots Democracy interns are local students in Mesa, Montrose and Garfield Counties who are encouraging their peers to become engaged by:

  • Collaborating with student leaders to create voter registration plans that will work in their school
  • Participating in trainings for voter registration
  • Coordinating voter registration drives
  • Joining a network of students around Western Colorado working to support youth voter registration and engagement in our areas

Our Grassroots Democracy interns will be trained in July so they are ready to hit the ground running when school starts in August. Our regional launch event is at the 4th of July parade in Grand Junction on July 4th! We will have a float with students walking alongside and registering people to vote. It’s going to be a blast, but even if you can’t make it, you can still join us an intern!

The Western Colorado Alliance is a non-profit non-partisan entity that supports civic and community engagement no matter political party affiliation. Here at the Alliance we bring people together across western Colorado to build grassroots power through community organizing and leadership development. Our goal is to encourage students to become engaged even before they are eligible to vote, and to view voting as a right and responsibility always. As our future decision makers, the time to register to vote is now!
